I’m so excited! I just got a new batch of books delivered today from Amazon. I don’t know why, but I have this obsessive need to buy books. I love books! I had six delivered today on top of the other six I have lying around that need to be read, plus two others that I’m reading now. I obviously didn’t need to get any more and won’t need to for awhile, but next month when my birthday rolls around I plan on getting more. It’s a compulsion! Well, reading does help with writing so at least there’s that.
Plus, I’m on the 5th book in the Ender series – Ender’s Shadow – by Orson Scott Card, so I have to get the rest of the books in that series. My husband kept bugging me to read Ender’s Game but I didn’t want to because I don’t really like science fiction. Finally I got sick of him asking me to read it so I read it while waiting for some books to arrive – the one time I had no books to read. Once I started, I was hooked. I couldn’t stop reading it. It took about 2 1/2 days to read and it only took that long because I had other things to do and couldn’t spend all day reading.
Speaking of books, my husband recently got a Kindle for his birthday and thought I might like one too. I thought about it – you know better for the earth, not killing trees and all – but I never will. There’s something about getting a book, the feel of a new book in my hands, and opening the pages that I find comforting. Add a raspberry latte and I’m in heaven! Having a Kindle just wouldn’t be the same.
So the books I got are: Bag of Bones, Duma Key, The Stand (Stephen King), Can You Keep a Secret, and Confessions of a Shopaholic (Sophie Kinsella). Attempting to read out of my normal genre of books, I recently started reading chick lit. I have to say that I’m enjoying it. Right now my nighttime book is The Little Lady Agency by Hester Browne. They are light reads – great for just before bed – and amusing too. The only problem is trying to put them down so I can go to sleep.
